Time is running out to complete a major construction overhaul at a local school. The principal at J.S. Clark Elementary assures parents renovations will be finished the first day of school. Only minor touch ups will be left and that will be completed after school hours. Principal Dr. Ruby Scroggins says parents have nothing to worry about. She received confirmation from Superintendent Dr. Gerald Dawkins that the task at hand will be completed on time.
The former middle school has been transformed into a state of the art elementary school. The school will house a new auditorium, science lab and computer lab.
Teachers have been working around the clock getting their classrooms ready. They spent most of Monday unloading boxes.
JS Clark will now house kindergarten through 6th grade students. The campus is a result of the closing of Central and West Shreveport Elementary Schools.
Dr. Scroggins tells NBC 6 the campus' enrollment numbers are slightly above average for an elementary school in Caddo Parish. Around 700 students will attend the school in the fall.
