Early morning armed robbery suspects at large

Two men are recovering from gunshot wounds following what police believe may have been a robbery attempt in west Shreveport early this morning.

At approximately 1:15 this morning (July 30, 2012), Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 3600 block of Lakeland Street relative to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found 37-year-old James Jewel suffering from a gunshot wound to the right leg and 24 year-old Abdul Diallo with a bullet wound to his right arm. Both of them were subsequently transported to LSU Medical Center by the Shreveport Fire Department with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives immediately responded and, upon further investigation, learned two male suspects who are known to the victims allegedly came to the residence there on Lakeland Street to purchase compact discs.

At some point during the transaction, one of the men pulled out a firearm and the pair apparently attempted to rob Jewel and Diallo.

A physical confrontation ensued and the gunman fired shots, striking the victims. The robbers then fled the scene of the crime in a vehicle.

Investigators are working at this hour to positively identify and apprehend the men. Anyone with any information regarding this crime should contact Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or www.lockemup.org
