Since this whole issue began heating up the company has taken the stance that they do wish to leave the debate out of the political arena and they do not discriminate against anyone regardless of their belief.

The controversy started when Chick-Fil-A President Dan Cathy told The Baptist Press he fully supports the traditional family unit and the biblical definition of a family as opposed to same sex marriage.

According to reports, the franchise's charitable arm has given millions of dollars to groups which support the same views.

Once Cathy began receiving heat  former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee started showing his support for the comments and began asking people to take a stand on August 1st at their local Chick-Fil-A  restaurants.

"If you're going to make anti gay statements and contribute lots of money to causes that hurt gay people then don't be surprised if we don't want to buy your products," said Adrienne Critcher,  of P.A.C.E.

" The big push is on free speech and so are we saying it's free speech for a select few?" asked Bishop Larry Brandon of Praise Temple Baptist Church.

Huckabee has created the event on Facebook asking for people to show up Chick-Fil-A on August 1st.

" I think he comes across on the wrong side of history. We have a long history in this country of unpopular minority groups at times being discriminated against," Critcher said.

Boston along with several cities across the country have started to ban the franchise as a whole ...

"Don't refuse permitting because there are those who love Chik-Fil-A and will support Chick-Fil-A local business. I'm going to go and show my support," Brandon said.

At this point on Huckabee's event posting on Facebook more than 200 thousand people have replied yes to attending.
