New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General
Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has agreed
to terms with their fourth-round draft choice, WR Nick Toon on a
four-year contract.
Toon, 23, was selected by the Saints in the fourth round of the
2012 NFL Draft with the 122nd pick overall. The 6-foot-4, 218-pound
wideout enjoyed an extremely productive four-year career at the University of
Wisconsin from 2008-11. He finished his college career with 171
receptions for 2,447 yards (14.3 avg.) with 18 touchdowns, to rank in the top
five in Badgers record books in grabs, yardage and scoring catches. As a
senior in 2011, Toon earned second-team All-Big Ten Conference accolades as he
recorded 64 catches for 926 yards (14.5 avg.) with ten touchdowns.
Toon graduated from Wisconsin with a bachelor's degree in
family, consumer, and community education. His father, Al Toon, left
Wisconsin's campus as the school's leading all-time receiver at the time in
1985, was the first-round draft pick of the New York Jets in 1985 and became a
three-time Pro Bowl wideout in his eight-year NFL career.
The
club's entire five-player 2012 NFL Draft class have now all agreed to terms or
signed contracts.
