Shreveport Police detectives are investigating how a little girl taken to the hospital late last week came to be injured.

At approximately 3:33 p.m. on June 9, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to LSU Medical Center in the 1500 block of Kings Highway relative to a 1-year-old baby there suffering from head injuries.

According to information provided to responding officers, the female child has a skull fracture, but is expected to recover.

Investigators immediately were notified and, based on information gathered during the preliminary stages of their inquiry, believe the child may have been injured at a home in the 200 block of West 68th Street.

No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
