LSUS is awaiting final approval for doctorate program.  The Louisiana Board of Regents approved a letter of intention for the university's first doctorate program.  If everything goes as planned the school will soon offer a doctorate of education.

Currently people travel to east Texas to find a school offering a similar program.  280 people are already on a waiting list to enroll.  The school is hoping to attract educators from Bossier, Caddo and DeSoto Parishes.

A proposal goes before the LSU board of supervisors and board of regents Friday.  The program is expected to start Fall 2013.
