A local woman who apparently shot herself in the hand during a dispute in North Shreveport this evening has been arrested.
At approximately 6:15 p.m. on May 28, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Grimmett Drive relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, patrolmen found 42-year-old Sheila Marshall suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand. Marshall was subsequently transported to LSU Medical Center by the Shreveport Fire Department with what was described as a non-life-threatening injury.
Detectives immediately responded and, upon further investigation, discovered Marshall had allegedly been involved in some type of altercation with a group of people there on Grimmett Drive when she armed herself with a handgun and fired a shot which struck her in her own hand. No one else was injured.
During their inquiry, investigators seized two firearms they believe were involved in the incident and ultimately charged Marshall with one count each of illegal use of a weapon and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Marshall will be booked into the Shreveport City Jail when she is released from the hospital.
