Jury selection begins in 2nd degree murder trial in shooting death of

   Jury selection began shortly after 2 p.m. today (May 21) in the second degree murder trial of Joshua R. Parker, 22,  charged with the June 2009 shooting death of Phillip Livigni.

  Livigni, 17, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the back in the University Elementary School parking lot in the 9900 block of Smitherman. Livigni was transported to LSU Medical Center by the Shreveport Fire Department, where he later died in surgery.

Caddo District Judge Mike Pitman is presiding; Brady O'Callaghan is prosecuting; and Frank Zaccaria is Parker's defense attorney.
