High School student arrested for terror threats

A 17-year-old student at Parkway High School was arrested Tuesday night after school officials found a posting on Facebook describing violent threats to the high school, according to Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen.

Nolan Asszony, 17, of the 2000 block of Ray Ave. in Bossier City, was charged with terrorizing after posting a detailed sketch and information of acts of violence at the school that would take place at Parkway High School at a later date. 

He told deputies he made the posting to Facebook around 4 p.m. Tuesday so people could see how he draws and what he's into.  Deputies say the posting went into great detail on how Asszony would carry out his plan of violence.  Actions like this, however, are not something law enforcement takes lightly.

"When you make a statement of violence against a school, we are going to take that very seriously," said Capt. Danny Dison of the Bossier Sheriff's Department and director of security for the Bossier Parish School System.  "Whether the act is intentional or not, we are going to look very closely at any threat to a school in Bossier Parish." 

Dison also wanted to ensure parents, students and faculty of Parkway High School that there is no imminent threat to the school.  "The quick actions of Parkway's leadership and school's resource officer resulted in Asszony's arrest Tuesday, and this is a testament to the seriousness that school officials and law enforcement make of any threat to Bossier Parish schools," said Dison.

According to Louisiana Revised Statute 14:40.1, terrorizing is the intentional communication of information that the commission of a crime of violence is imminent or in progress or that a circumstance dangerous to human life exists or is about to exist..."   The charge carries a fine up to $15,000 or imprisonment with or without hard labor for not more than 15 years, or both.

Asszony was transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking; his bond is set at $10,000.
