D-E-Q Calls Public Hearing Over Bad Odor

By: Import User
Updated: February 5, 2007
D-E-Q told both residents and business owners the plant has been authorized to install an odor control system. No word yet on when it will be put in. Business owner Leo McDonald says he has to leave north market to have lunch because of the smell. "I personally get out of North Market to eat because I can`t stand it. I eat on the other side of town. Thank God I live on the other side of town, but I work here nine to ten hours a day," McDonald said. No one from the plant was at the D-E-Q meeting leaving some wondering whether or not the plant will comply. D-E-Q says right now there is no indication Louisiana Proteins will not cooperate.
