Barksdale issues statement regarding bagger policy

The NAACP makes a plea to save some civilian volunteer jobs at Barksdale Air Force Base's commissary.
The air force plans to cut seven civilian bagger positions at the commissary on May 31st.
Base representatives told the group that under security guidelines established in 2007 by the Department of Defense, all baggers must possess an active military, retiree or a dependent ID card.
The NAACP has issued a call of action to the community.
"We are asking the public and the folks who use the commissary to help us look into trying to make sure that we save these me and the one lady who have put in so many years and basically volunteering for the commissary to help feed their family," said Lloyd Thompson, President of the Shreveport Chapter of the NAACP.
The base says the baggers were given five months notice prior to May 31st.
