Quotes

Head Coach Sonny Dykes

On the Spring Game:

"I thought today was a good day. It was a pretty clean day but we had a couple of bad snaps late.  A little concern was that we turned the ball over three times in the first quarter. We just have to take care of the ball more but he defense also did a great job. The guys were swarming to the ball and trying to strip it. Jamel Johnson made a great break on the ball to intercept Colby [Cameron] on fourth down. We showed that we have big play potential on the team which is something we have lacked in the past. We had a couple of guys make big plays today. It was a great spring and the best I have been around since I began coaching. We are so much further along than we have been in the past. Our players improved all 15 days."

On the Wide Receivers:

"We have guys that can make some plays for us. They have come a long way and are more consistent than they have been. It was good to see Jon Greenwalt out there today. He had been banged up and hampered by injuries this spring. He made some plays and is a great addition to our receiving core. D.J. Banks made some big plays as well. Myles [White], Quinton [Patton] and the usual suspects also did a pretty good job today.

On the Quarterbacks:

I thought we threw and caught the ball pretty well which is the difference from the past. We are more accurate when we are getting the ball out on time. The quarterbacks and receivers are also on the same page which really makes this offense go."

On the Running Backs:

"I really like our running backs. They run hard and we have three or four walk-ons that have done a great job for us. Marlon Seets and Rickey Courtney made really important plays for us and did a great job of running with the football. I thought Tevin King did some good things and Hunter Lee was solid as well."

On the Offensive Line:

"They did a good job protecting and getting a hat-on-a-hat while the quarterbacks did a good job of getting rid of the football."

On Colby Cameron:

"He has come so far. You want your quarterback to embrace the role of the leader which I think he has done. He is comfortable in that role now and feels like this is his team."

On Tyrone Duplessis:

"He is on our hearts and minds every day. It is great to see George and Mary here. For them being here it means so much for our players, coaching staff and the Louisiana Tech fan base. Every single day we think about Tyrone and talk about him."

On Zach Griffith getting a lot of snaps:

"We wanted to get Zach a lot of snaps in the second half because he is going to help us win some games next year."
