Richard Jefferson with the Louisiana Department of Revenue says parents can write off the money spent on their child's education and could get back as much as $5,000 dollars on their state income taxes. Jefferson says things like uniforms, books, technology all count toward the write off. You'll get 50% back on those items up to $5,000. This credit applies to each child, so parents with several children could save alot of money.
