Hundreds rallied in downtown Texarkana Wednesday to honor Florida shooting death victim Trayvon Martin.

Several people held signs with the teenager's name and photo as they marched to the U.S. courthouse.

The two local chapters of the NAACP staging the event hoped to use Martin's death to discuss what can be done to prevent similar incidents from happening in the local community.

Topics including education, parenting and voting were discussed.

The local NAACP says the groups could hold more events in the near future in hopes of reaching out to the community.
