Journalism students from Bossier Parish Community College recently attended the Associated Collegiate Press 28thAnnual National College Journalism Convention in Seattle, Washington.
The students who are also staff members of the Kaleidoscope, BPCC's student newspaper, gathered with other students from around the country to hear knowledgeable and successful media professionals. "It made me realize how much hard work and passion journalists put forth into creating articles that are not necessarily just for shock value, but for readers to be aware of news happening everywhere," said Kaleidoscope staff member Lanny Buenviaje.
Candice Gibson, assistant professor of English at BPCC and advisor to the Kaleidoscope, felt the students represented the College well. "I am proud of our students for not only attending sessions, but intellectually contributing to the dialogue during the discussions," said Gibson.
The Kaleidoscope, established in 1972, contains campus news, editorials, student views and advice, student government events, and sports schedules
