President Eisenhower was in office when the mayor of an East Texas town was elected. This week after 52 years, he`s stepping down. Pittsburg mayor D.H. Abernathy packed up his desk and is preparing for retired life. At the age of 93, he decided it was time to call it quits. A man a third of his age now holds the mayor`s position. Abernathy says he`s looking forward to the future. "I`ll miss welcoming new people to the city, but I plan to visit with my grandchildren and do a little fishing," Abernathy said. Abernathy is the oldest mayor in Texas. He`s faced only four opponents over the years and beat each one handily.
