Updated: January 7, 2009
Sisters In Support, and African American Breast Cancer Survivors Support Group, will sponsor its first breast cancer awareness workshop on Saturday, July 15, at A.B. Palmer Recreational Center 547 E. 70th Street from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Statistics have shown that more Caucasians are diagnosed with breast cancer, but more African Americans die from disease. With this knowledge, Sisters In Support will sponsor an awareness workshop each year in a different community. There will be presenters from the American Cancer Society, St. Catherine`s Health Services and LSU Health Science Center- Feist Weiller Cancer Center. Residents of the Cedar Grove area are encouraged to come and receive valuable life-saving information. Refreshments will be served. For more information, please contact Wanda H. Brooks at 636-7819 or ebrooks4@sport.rr.com.
