Sex Offender Crackdown

Updated: February 6, 2007
Ten Caddo Parish officers are out looking for hundreds of unregistered sex offenders the task force team makes about 5 arrests each. Desiree Adams, mother of 5 is pleased something is being done. "The people that they offend, they are invaded I don`t think that is too extreme, it`s extreme what they did." Authorities say personnel from their reserves were pulled to staff the project which means no extra money was spent. "The tax payers are winning on this deal, we aren`t taking anyone off patrol," explained Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator. Most of the community agrees with the strategy and thinks it should have been done a long time ago. "I think it`s probably the only strategy. All these people need to register, the law says they need to register," commented Rick Pastar. "A sex offender should be known where they are at all times," said Nelly Brown. The crackdown is being called a success and Prator says his department will keep looking as long as sex offenders are on the streets. "Getting 4 to 5 a day, and 4 to 5 coming down to and registering that to back off this effort now, I think wouldn`t be the right thing to do." Adams admits she won`t sleep well until all of the sex offenders are found. "That is not enough, they need to get all of them, that is not enough, but I am happy they are doing that."
