Texas High School graduate and New England Patriots rookie quarterback Ryan Mallett is expected to be on the sidelines for Sunday's game.
Though it's not clear if he'll be suited up, family say they plan to cheer him on during the game.
Texas High School Head Football Coach and Athletics Director Barry Norton says he plans to reach out to his former player before the big day.
"I'll send him a text message and tell him 'good luck' and how proud we are....I'll tell him just enjoy the moment," Norton said.
Mallett's family says he's "excited and ready to go" if his number is called during the Super Bowl.
This is the second Texas High School player coached by Barry Norton who's making a Super Bowl appearance, the second one being Nathan Vasher with the Chicago Bears in 2007.
