Techsters win big at home, 77-63 over Nevada

RUSTON, La. - Senior Jasmine Bendolph and freshman Whitney Frazier both recorded a double-double as the Louisiana Tech women's basketball team defeated Nevada 77-63 Thursday night at the Thomas Assembly Center in front of 1,839 fans.

Bendolph scored 12 points and dished out a career-high 15 assists and Frazier scored 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbed a career-best 11 rebound, six of which came on the offensive glass.

The Lady Techsters improve to 11-10 overall and 4-2 in the Western Athletic Conference while the Wolf Pack drop to 5-16 and 1-5 in conference action.

Tech led from the beginning as they went 20-for-31 (64.5 percent) in the first half. Bendolph recorded 10 of her assists in the first half as the Lady Techsters recorded 19 assists in the first half.

Senior Shantale Bramble-Donaldson was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field as she scored 14 points in the period as well.

LA Tech's pressure defense forced Nevada to shoot only 35.3 percent (12-34) from the field and eight turnovers.

In the second half, the Lady Techsters jumped out to a 20-point lead just over a minute into the period.

Nevada cut Tech's advantage to 73-63 on two free throws from Chanelle Brennan with 1:13 left in the game.

The Lady Techsters would score the final four points of the game to pick up the victory.

Sophomore Tavasha Anderson tied her career-high with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting and went 3-for-4 from the free throw line. Bramble-Donaldson finished with 16 points and five rebounds.

As a team, Tech shot 53.4 percent (31-58) from the field with four of the field goals coming from three-point range. The Lady Techsters were also credited with 29 assists on their 31 made field goals.

The Wolf Pack was led by Brennan's 17 points and eight rebounds. Amanda Johnson and Arielle Wideman dished out a team-high four assists each.

For the game, Nevada made 25-of-60 field goal attempts and went 10-for-18 from the charity stripe.

Tech returns to action on Saturday night as they face Fresno State in the "Pack the House Challenge" at 7 p.m. in the Thomas Assembly Center.
