Jury Selection Begins in Bradshaw Trial

Joe Bradshaw spent most of the day in a Longview courtroom as a jury was chosen. His trial was moved out of Bowie County because of pre-trial publicity. Bradshaw has been behind bars since September of last year, accused of stabbing his wife to death. Police were called to the couple`s home last September where they found Toy Bradshaw lying on her back with several stab wounds in their home on Galloping Way. In 1997, Toy Bradshaw asked for a protective order against her husband but later withdrew that order saying he was getting counseling. Co-workers and friends at Christus St. Michael`s say her death came as a complete shock. "We miss her very much and we`re trying to move on but its very difficult. I can only imagine what its been like for her family," said Jennifer Anderson. Whitney Hunter described Toy as being the type of person who was upbeat and never talked about personal matters. "She never let on that she any kind of problems. She always had a smile and made people feel good and so it was devastating to all of us to hear what had happened." "We think about her everyday when we come into the unit. She was part of us and there is a part missing," co-worker Susan McCoy explained. It appears that defense lawyers for Bradshaw are planning a strategy that could keep him out of prison. They will try and claim he was insane at the time of the murders. Bradshaw contends that he is innocent.
