BATON ROUGE - Billy Gonzales has taken the offensive coordinator position at a school in the Big Ten, LSU coach Les Miles confirmed on Wednesday.

The official announcement of Gonzales' hiring could come as early as tomorrow.

Gonzales served as LSU's wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator for the past two years.

"This is a great promotion for Billy," Miles said. "Billy will do a great job as an offensive coordinator. This is a tremendous opportunity for him and his family. We wish Billy, his wife Julie and their two children nothing but the best."

Miles said that he is going to take his time in finding Gonzales' replacement.

"I'm not going to be in a hurry (to fill this position)," Miles said. "We are going to hire a great coach with an outstanding background."
