Are you an organ donor?

Across Louisiana more and more people are becoming organ, eye and tissue donors.

And this month that registry reached more than two million.

"My health reached a level where I had two days and i'd be dead," says Gene Williams, donor recipient.

Gene Williams is a 30-year veteran of the Shreveport Fire Department.

He contracted Hepatitis A during a family vacation to Florida in 2004.

Nearly two months later he was deathly ill, and needed a liver transplant.

As of this past June nearly 42% of the populations in Bossier and Caddo Parishes are organ donors.
