Ryan Allen Named WAC Special Teams Player of the Week

DENVER (Oct. 10, 2011) - Louisiana Tech punter Ryan Allen was named the Western Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for week six of action.

Allen, a junior from Salem, Ore. (West Salem HS), punted 10 times for a 48.0-yard average in Louisiana Tech's 24-11 win at Idaho. Allen had six punts inside the 20, including four inside the 10-yard line. He had two punts of at least 60 yards, including a long of 61. Allen is tied for the national lead with 20 punts inside the 20-yard line.

The league also announced that Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton and Nevada defensive tackle Brett Roy were named the offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively.

Louisiana Tech is off this week before traveling to Utah State on Oct. 22 for a 2 p.m. CT game that will be televised on ERT and CST.
