Mail carriers in Shreveport worked on their day off today but it wasn't to deliver mail.

Instead they were standing in uniform outside area businesses to collect money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Today was national "Fill the Satchel" day for MDA.

For three hours two mail carriers stood outside Brookshires on Line Avenue raising money for the cause.

"We just like to be able to raise the money to help find a cure for Muscular Dystrophy and it's the children I'm concerned a bout we want them to have a better chance," says Donna Sterner, MDA Coordinator, National Mail Carriers Association.

Mail carriers also collected money on behalf of MDA at Walmart on Bert Kouns and Sams Club on Youree Drive.
