People at Barksdale Air Force Base who are paving the flightline are changing their schedules, working at 2 a.m.
"We're working at 2 am number one to beat the heat for the workers. Workers' safety is one of our priorities. The second reason is concrete cures better at lower temperatures" says Darin Dailey a resident engineer.
Some companies even put ice into concrete mixes to lower the temperature but that gets expensive.
To prevent heat related problems, they take more breaks throughout the day.
