Staff Positions Cut by Atlanta ISD

The Atlanta Independent School District school board voted Tuesday night to eliminate fourteen positions because of budget constraints. Board members made the decision after meeting in executive session for two hours. Ten teachers were laid off and four resigned.
"In this particular era, we're in it's always about money but it's about money more than it's ever been in the state of Texas and Atlanta Independent School District and all school districts," Hailey said.
Hailey says the amount of money that will be cut from his budget depends on what happens in the state legislature. The senate bill would cut $900,000 from the budget. The house version would slash $1.4 million.
