In celebration of Black History month, Student Support Services (SSS) is offering a challenge to the students of Southern University at Shreveport.
The challenge is a Quiz Bowl: “How well do you know your history?” The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. Feb. 23 in the Jesse Stone Jr. Lecture Hall, 3050 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Shreveport, LA.
To explore this challenge, SSS will sponsor a Quiz Bowl where two groups of students will demonstrate their mastery of Black History in categories like sports, music, medical, art/theater, education and local, Shreveport/Bossier, trailblazers.
Tentatively, the groups will be, but not be limited to, the “Kappa” Society, with Mr. Clifford Collins, Associate Professor of Sociology, serving as coach; and the African-American Society Club, with Mr. Willie Burton, Professor of History, serving as coach.
Trophies will be given to the group with the most points. Everyone is invited to come witness and to support this fast-paced event.
