Natchitoches stabbing suspect at large; considered armed and dangerous

A Natchitoches woman is in critical condition after sustaining multiple stab wounds to the head, neck, shoulder and chest areas Monday evening, and Natchitoches police are asking the publics for help in finding her assailant.
Natchitoches police responded to a call of a stabbing at a residence on Fourth Street in Natchitoches after 10 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found a white female, Deanna Sykes, 25, had been stabbed at least nine times.
Officers quickly learned that Ms. Sykes estranged husband, Wyntrell Sykes, had broken into the residence and attacked Ms. Sykes.
As officers entered the front door, Ms. Sykes fled through the back door. A foot pursuit ensuded, but officers were unable to apprehend the suspect. Ms. Sykes was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in critical condition. She was treated there, and then moved to an undisclosed hospital.
The suspect is described as a black male with medium complexion, who is approximately 5’9” tall and weighs 160 lbs.
Mr. Sykes is wanted for attempted first degree murder and aggravated burglary. He is considered armed and dangerous.
