Volunteers Say Men Are Soliciting Sex In Parks

By: Import User
Updated: February 6, 2007
Jason Scott is a volunteer who cleans trails in parks along the Red River. Lately he says Hamel`s park has become a place where gay men go to solicit sex from each other. We followed Scott to Hamels park to see what he was talking about for ourselves. There we noticed several parked cars. The men, mostly there watching other drivers passing by. We used Scott as bait. After talking to a few of the men Scott found this. "Your pants unbuttoned. Yeah. Why your pants undone? Scott also finally found one man who opened up. "I mostly like doing and not getting. You like doing not getting. Yeah." Scott claimed to be new to the area. The man told him there`s a way to keep from getting busted by police who patrol the park. "You all watch out for each other? Yeah usually." Because of what Scott says is happening at Hamel`s park everyday he wants changes made. So families can enjoy the parks along the river safely. The Shreveport police department told us they usually conduct sting operation at Hamel`s park and frequently patrol it.
