A pair of suspected burglars, one of whom is nursing a dog bite, has been arrested by Shreveport Police after a concerned citizen notified authorities of a burglary in progress.
Shreveport Police patrol officers this morning were called to home in the 3100 block of Woodford Street relative to a burglary in progress.
Upon their arrival, officers contacted the victim who reported that he arrived at his home to find a side door forced open and two men running from the area. Patrolmen immediately began searching for the suspects and K-9 Jasko and his handler Cpl. Jeffrey Hammer were dispatched to the scene to assist.
Jasko was able to track the suspects from the scene of the crime to a home just down the street from the victim’s address and ultimately located them underneath that residence. Despite repeated commands to come out from under the home, the suspects remained concealed and refused to comply with the officers’ directives. Jasko was subsequently deployed under the home and at that point both men, identified later as 19-year-old Jeveara Johnson and 26-year-old LaTroy Johnson, came out from their hiding place and were taken into custody.
LaTroy was transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department where he was treated for injuries sustained as a result of being bitten by the police dog.
