Busy season for Webster Parish law enforcement – Part III
On Dec. 18, Zachary P. Malham, 22, of Loop Road in Minden, was stopped by Dixie Inn police on Highway 80 for drifting from lane to lane. Upon approaching Malham’s vehicle, the officer observed strong odor of an alcohol beverage. Then, Webster Parish Sheriff Deputy, Lieutenant Luster Coleman arrived on the scene to assist, and field sobriety was performed.
Melham performed poorly and officers observed him behaving nervously when he was placed in custody.
A search of the vehicle revealed numerous open containers of beer, a 45 caliber handgun, brass knuckles, marijuana and a Schedule IV substance. Melham was charged with DWI third offense, possession of a CDS Schedule I with intent to distribute, open container in the vehicle, illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of a CDS Schedule IV (legend drug), and, of course, improper lane use.
