A man who drives a bus for a local daycare center is accused of having a gun on board.
Robert Jones, 60, was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault. Shamark Lee says Jones pulled a gun out during an argument about her three-year-old daughter.
Jones tried to drop the girl off at home eariler that afternoon, but no one was there. Instead of taking her to Child Protective Services, Jones' attorney says he took her back to the center.
About thirty minutes later Jones returned with the little girl. Her mother and Jones began to argue and that's when she says the gun was removed from the bus.
"It ain't about cussing me out, it ain't even about him pulling a gun," says Shamark Lee. "It's about me knowing that he [had] it on the bus with my child and other people's children."
Jones returned to the center where he was questioned and later arrested.
He and his attorney say what Lee claims was a gun is actually a tire iron. We're told he pulled the weapon because he felt threatened by Lee and her brother.
Jones' attorney also says an eyewitness to the incident was an off-duty police officer who is now questioning the arrest.
The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services is now investigating.
