A Kansas City, Missouri man claims he was the victim of police brutality when he was thrown to the ground during a routine traffic stop by Kansas City police.

The stop was recorded on police dash cam video.

It happened about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

Kansas City resident Carlos McCain is pulled over by Kansas City Police. The officer asks for his license and proof of insurance, then asks McCain to get out of the car.

As McCain steps out of the car the officer grabs him by the arm and throws him to the ground.

The dash cam video records McCain swearing at the officer, and telling him that he's being arrested for nothing.

The officer responds by saying, "You did not comply with my orders."

It is a charge McCain denies.

"I was getting my license and insurance upon his request, as I was getting them he asked me to step out the truck, before I could comply with his request he just slammed me to the ground for no reason," he says.

Capt. Steve Young with the Kansas City Police Department reviewed the dash cam video.

"The officer did a really good job," said Young.

Young says McCain stiffened up after exiting the SUV, which justified the officer's force.

"What the video doesn't show is the guy standing still and not complying and working with the officer to turn around," said Young.
