Ms. Ladda Love Hawkins of Bossier City today was served with a cease and desist order and fine notice for allegedly acting as a bail bond producer without a license.

Hawkins, 36, a former Bossier City bail bond agent, was served by Louisiana Department of Insurance Fraud Section investigators today with a cease and desist order, along with a $5,000 fine notice for allegedly selling, soliciting and negotiating bail bonds without a valid license.

Though investigators said Hawkins is sole owner of Luvbonds, L.L.C., a Montreal Hawkins is listed in the Louisiana Secretary of State’s corporation data base as a member of the Limited Liability Corporation

Department records show that Hawkins was issued a Bail Bonds license in August 2003 and her agency, Luvbonds, L.L.C., was issued a Bail Bonds license in March 2005, both of which expired on April 30, 2007. She is alleged to have accepted 317 bail bond powers of attorney after her license expired on April 30, 2007. She has 30 days from time of service to request an administrative appeal.

Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon urges consumers who feel uneasy about any insurance related transaction to call the Department of Insurance Fraud Section at 225-342-4956 or 1-800-259-5300. If callers do not want their names used, they can request that their involvement be kept confidential.
