Bossier City Councilman James “Chubby” McKnight today was taken into custody by Bossier City police on two counts of bank fraud, one stemming from cashing a $3,980 counterfeit sweepstakes check, and the other from cashing two fraudulent money orders in the amount of $975  he received from a secret shopper scam.

Knight, accompanied by his attorney Joel Pierce, surrendered to Bossier City Police Monday afternoon after being contacted by investigators. He was booked into the Bossier City Jail and later was transferred to Bossier Parish Maximum Security facility in Benton.  His bond was set at $1,000 - $500 for each count.
