Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says a Haughton juvenile was arrested Monday morning for blowing up a mailbox about 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the Country Place subdivision. He is charged with manufacturing an incendiary device and simple criminal property damage.
The 15-year-old white male created a crude homemade explosive device and placed it in a mailbox in the 200 block of Chimney Lane. The bomb was made with a plastic soft drink bottle which contained a chemical, causing pressure to build up, leading to an explosion that destroyed the mailbox. No one was hurt.
The teenager, who was turned in to authorities by his mom, has been booked at the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and transported to the Bossier Parish Juvenile Detention Center.
Bossier Sheriffs investigators say theres no evidence the home was targeted. It was apparently chosen at random.
