BALET TABBED PLAYER OF THE YEAR

DURHAM, NC- The American Association announced today that Lincoln Saltdogs 1B/OF Pichi Balet has been named the leagues Player of the Year, as voted upon by the league managers and media. Balet had a sensational year in his second season with the Saltdogs. The Moreno Valley, CA resident led the league with a .378 batting average, 82 RBI, and 136 hits. He finished tied for fourth in on-base percentage at .429 and tied for fifth with a .528 slugging percentage, as the Saltdogs finished the season with an American Association best 65-31 record. Balet was also named a Player of the Week for the week of July 24-30. Balet, 27, originally signed with the Dubois County Dragons of the Frontier League after playing collegiate baseball at Florida State University and Cumberland (TN) University.
