Top Republican Supports Tax Cuts For Middle Class

By: RNS
Updated: September 13, 2010
(Washington, DC)  --  House Minority Leader John Boehner says he would
still support tax cuts for middle class Americans, even of breaks for the
wealthy were allowed to expire.
The Ohio Republican told CBS' "Face the Nation" letting cuts for the
wealthy expire would be bad policy, but he would still vote in favor of breaks
for those making less than $250,000 dollars.
Boehner said he's still going to fight to keep tax cuts enacted under
former President George W. Bush.
Republicans say raising taxes on the rich would hurt the already lagging
economy.
President Obama says extending the Bush cuts would increase the deficit
under a tax policy that favors the wealthy.
