RUSTON - Weldon Brown and Mark Dillard both continued to impress Louisiana Tech head coach Jack Bicknell Thursday night as the two crossovers from last year`s Bulldog backfield to safety registered interceptions. Brown, who saw most of his time on special teams last season while also getting some action at running back and wide receiver, recorded his interception during team drills while Dillard, who was Tech`s leading rusher last year, registered his during seven-on-seven skelly. Although Bicknell is not ready to turn over the reigns to the two guys, he has been happy with what he has seen. "It`s a work in progress," Bicknell said. "You can`t just snap your fingers and they suddenly know everything to do. I`ve seen progress from both of them. Obviously, Weldon is a little ahead of Mark because of his work this spring." Brown is currently running first team at safety along with senior Dez Abrams while Dillard is trying to move his way up the Bulldog depth chart as well. Although there has been some talk of moving Brown over to corner, Bicknell said for now he plans on him staying exactly where he is. "We`ve thought about it," Bicknell said. "You hate to move him from back there because he has shown a lot of promise (at safety). It`s such an important position. Did you see him after his interception, he was down that sideline in no time." "If we had to (for whatever reason), we could but right now I`m planning on him staying put." Tech will return to the practice field Friday night starting at 6:45 p.m.
