New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Tuesday that the club has waived quarterback Sean Canfield and wide receiver Andy Tanner, reducing the roster to the league-maximum of 75 players.

Canfield was the team’s seventh-round draft choice in April, selected 239th overall out of Oregon State. The 6-4, 223-pound left-handed quarterback was an All-Pac 10 Conference first team selection as a senior in 2009 as he started all 13 games for the Beavers, wrapping his college career with 38 touchdown passes and throwing for 5,970 yards. He saw limited playing time this preseason, taking a knee three times to end the win over Houston.

Tanner (6-0, 183) was signed by the Saints in May after participating in the team’s rookie minicamp as a tryout player. A product of Division II Midwestern State, Tanner caught 120 passes for 1,716 yards in his college career. He played in two preseason games this summer but didn’t record any statistics.
