The New Orleans Saints have signed WR Mike Hass to a three-year contract, it was announced today by the club. Hass, the clubs sixth-round pick, was honored as the nations top wide receiver last year at Oregon State when he was voted the Fred Biletnikoff Award winner.
During his college career, Hass shattered school records with 220 receptions for 3,934 yards. He also tied Oregon States all-time mark with 20 TD catches. As a senior, he was voted All-American after hauling in 90 passes for a nation-leading 1,532 yards and six TDs.
Hass (6-foot-1, 209 pounds), who was originally a walk-on at OSU, was the Saints initial pick in the sixth round (171st overall).
A review of the clubs transactions this week is as follows: The Saints terminated the contracts of veterans WR Nate Poole and DT Cedric Woodard, waived WR Levon Thomas; and signed FB Jamar Martin (Ht.: 5-11, Wt: 256, Exp: 3, School: Ohio State), G Darnell Alford (6-4, 334, 5, Boston College) and LB Cie Grant (6-0, 235, 3, Ohio State).
