Schmidt Wins First Start with Team USA; Slated to Pitch Again in Joplin, Mo. on July 14

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas junior-to-be Nick Schmidt picked up his first win with the USA National Team last Friday with a 5-2 win over Chinese Taipei at Coastal Federal Field in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The left-hander allowed just four hits over 5.2 innings while striking out nine and walking three. It was Schmidts first appearance for the National Team that is currently 5-0 on the season. Schmidt is scheduled to make his second start of the summer at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 14, at John Becker Stadium in Joplin, Mo., against the Southwest Slashers. The USA National team will also play a doubleheader against the Southwest Slashers in Joplin, Mo., on Saturday, July 15. The National Team will then travel to Athens, Ga., to take on the Georgia Collegiate All-Stars on July 17.
