Independence Bowl Brings Back Military Ticket Initiative

Shreveport, La. - Independence Bowl officials have announced a special ticket initiative which will allow those interested in purchasing tickets to the 31st Independence Bowl to choose the option of donating them to our area Armed Forces. The "Military Ticket Initiative" will allow individuals and local businesses to purchase tickets to the 2006 Independence Bowl and donate them back to our military. Tickets can be purchased for as little as $30 and will be distributed to Barksdale, Fort Polk, Fort Humbug, and Camp Minden Training Site. "Were excited about being able to offer this type of opportunity to the Shreveport-Bossier City community and to our Independence Bowl partners," stated Markey Pierre, 2006 Independence Bowl Chairwoman. "The Shreveport-Bossier City area has always been known for its tremendous support and hospitality shown toward military service personnel and we revel in the opportunity to give back to those who protect our country." Tickets are available at the Independence Bowl office located at 401 Market Street suite 120 inside the American Tower in downtown Shreveport during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by calling (318) 221-0712 or toll free at 888-414-BOWL (2695). Tickets are also available through the bowls official web site atwww.independencebowl.org. When calling, please refer to the "Military Ticket Initiative". Regular game tickets are also available to the public for as little as $30 and tickets to various events during bowl week are also available. Tickets to the FCA Breakfast on Dec. 26 at 7:30 a.m. are only $5 per person, and tickets for the Minuteman Luncheon on Dec. 27 at 11:30 a.m. are $25 each or $200 for a table of eight. The Pep Rally, held at the Louisiana Boardwalk, is free of charge and begins at 6 p.m. The 31st Independence Bowl will be played on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. and will be televised live from Independence Stadium to a nationwide audience on ESPN.
