AUSTIN, Texas -- Matchups against perennial national powers North Carolina, Michigan State and Connecticut highlight the 2010-11 University of Texas basketball non-conference schedule released today. The Longhorns also will make an appearance in the prestigious Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, host former Southwest Conference rival Arkansas and travel to Los Angeles to face USC as part of the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series.

The Big 12 Conference schedule has not been finalized at this date. UT's complete television schedule for the 2010-11 season will be announced at a later date. The Longhorns open the 2010-11 season with consecutive home dates against Navy (Nov. 8) and Louisiana Tech (Nov. 10). Both games will be in conjunction with the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. As one of the four regional host sites for the tournament, Texas automatically advances to the Championship Rounds at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 18-19. UT will join Illinois, Maryland and Pittsburgh for the semifinals and championship/consolation games. Matchups for the Championship Rounds will be announced at a later date.

Texas returns to Austin for a three-game homestand, when it will host in-state foes Sam Houston State (Nov. 23), Rice (Nov. 27) and Lamar (Dec. 1). The Horns then travel to Los Angeles to play USC (Dec. 5) as part of the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series, before playing host to Texas State (Dec. 11) and North Florida (Dec. 14) at the Frank Erwin Center.

UT will then clash with two of the elite programs in college basketball in a five-day span.  Longhorns will travel to Greensboro, N.C., to face North Carolina (Dec. 18), before heading to the Midwest to take on 2010 NCAA semifinalist Michigan State (Dec. 22). The game against North Carolina will be a neutral-site contest held at the Greensboro Coliseum, while the matchup against Michigan State will be held on the MSU campus at the Breslin Center.

The Longhorns conclude their non-conference slate with a three-game homestand prior to opening Big 12 Conference play. Texas will host Coppin State (Dec. 31), Arkansas (Jan. 4) and Connecticut (Jan. 8).
