Troubled star Lindsey Lohan is headed for jail.  The 24-year-old actress was sentenced Tuesday in a Beverly Hills courtroom for violating probation in connection with her DUI cases.

After a shocking day in court Tuesday, lindsay lohan wakes up this morning facing jail time.

A California judge had enough.

Judge Marsha Revel of the Los Angeles Superior Court said "30 days in jail on the reckless driving case, 30 days in jail on the first DUI case consecutive and 30 days in jail on the second DUI case.”

Judge Marsha Revel sentenced lohan to jail for a probation violation after the actress missed a string of alcohol education classes and meetings.

Lohan said she thought she had permission to miss the classes as long as she made them up.

Lindsay Lohan said "had I been taken aside and told that in detail then that wouldn't have been a different story.  I'm not taking this as a joke."

The judge didn't buy it and noted her history of non-compliance and ongoing excuses.

The young star's once promising movie career on hold and overshadowed by her next act, jail time.

The judge ordered Lohan to report to jail July 20th.   She has to complete a 90 day substance abuse program after she's out of jail.

In addition she has to refrain from drinking alcohol, submit to random drug testing, and continue wearing a bracelet that can detect alcohol use.
