Former Demons off to hot start to pro baseball careers

Lyles ranks second on his team in hitting with a .375 batting average in seven games as a member of the State College Spikes, a Class A Short-Season team affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates out of the New York-Penn League.
In those seven games, he’s had multiple hits three times, has a triple, and has driven in four runs. He’s also scored seven runs and has a stolen base.
Garcia is a member of the Eugene Emeralds of the Class A Short-Season team affiliated with the San Diego Padres and he leads the team in hitting with a .435 batting average.
He has hit safely in all five games he’s played in and has multiple hits in the last four. In a recent four-game series against TC, Garcia went 9-for-19 (.474) from the plate.
Sheppard has yet to throw an inning for the Brooklyn Cyclones, a Class A Short-Season team with the New York Mets.
Also playing pro ball from Northwestern State is Miles Durham who is a member of the Pirates’ Double-A Altoona Curve team. For the season, Durham is hitting .237 with four home runs and 33 RBIs, ranking tied for fifth on the team.
