breaking news
Phyllis Gorman, a Haughton resident, has been struggling to get a reliable motor scooter for at least a year. She did everything consumers are told to do, but, her calls and letters lead to a dead end. However, that all changed when she contacted the Troubleshoooters.
Phyllis Gorman is back to doing the things she loves. Sewing is at the top of her list. Yet, just weeks ago, doing something so simple was tough. "If you don`t have your legs, you can not have a normal life, you can`t go shopping or even get to the bed," Gorman said.
Phyllis, a polio survivor, relies on a scooter to get around. Her last scooter, however, wasn`t much help. It broke down 10 times in less than 3 years. "I went to back up and it just flew backwards into a pole,"she said. The scooter eventually stopped working entirely. Phyllis asked the company for a replacement, but, she was getting nowhere. "These people would not talk to me, I would call and they just wouldn`t call me back," Gorman said. Yet, that all changed after she called us.
The KTAL Troubleshooters contacted the company and they agreed to send Phyllis a brand new scooter, free of charge. "I`m so excited," Gorman said. It is important to mention that KTAL did not buy Gorman a scooter, however, volunteers did make phone calls on her behalf and direct her to the person that could handle her request.
