Theres a plan afoot to get Ronald McDonald to hang up the big red shoes and retire. And the Hamburglers "not" the one behind it. The folks at Corporate Accountability International demonstrated outside a Chicago Mickey Ds Wednesday. The advocacy group wants Ronald to retire as the spokesman for the chain, saying he has too much influence over children and their eating habits. In a statement to the Denver Post, McDonald’s says Ronald’s role is to make family meals fun and promote an active lifestyle. Corporate Accountability International calls itself a "partnership of public health professionals, parents, and corporate accountability advocates."
