Rehearsal Dinner
The rehearsal dinner is traditionally held on the eve of the wedding and is generally hosted by the parents of the groom. It’s a festive occasion during which the bride and groom are roasted and toasted. It also affords an excellent opportunity for the two families to get better acquainted and for the bride and groom to present the wedding party with “thank-you” gifts during the course of the evening.
While it’s generally accepted that the groom’s family picks up the tab, there are more modern approaches which puts this expense up for grabs. The couple might take matters into their own hands, or both sets of parents may choose to share the honors. The event can be as casual or as elaborate as dictated by taste and budget.
The guest list should include immediate family
of both the bride and groom, wedding
party members and spouses. If family
members travel from out of town for the wedding, it is appropriate to invite
them as well. By all means, remember to
invite the person who’s going to officiate your wedding and his spouse.
Whether it’s a backyard barbecue or an elegant
affair in a hotel ballroom, the primary requirement is that you make it FUN. |
